Rotating beacon 700/50114 JCB H 99 mm, aftermarket

For the JCB machines: rotating beacon 700/50114, H 99 mm, an aftermarket part. The card also lists 700/36800, 401/E0088. The photo shows an LED beacon on a magnetic base with a coiled cable and a cigarette-lighter plug.

LED beacons draw far less current than old filament types, withstand vibration better and need no bulb changes. A beacon of this kind sits on the cab roof on its magnetic base and plugs into the 12 V socket in the cab through the cigarette-lighter plug on its coiled cable, so it is easy to move between machines. The roof must be clean and flat for the magnet to hold. Route the coiled cable so it is not trapped by the door or a window. The magnetic base is usually covered with rubber so it does not scratch the paint; if sand gets between the base and the roof, the paint wears over time, so wipe both the base and the roof before fitting. At higher road speeds the magnet's hold against the wind is limited, and for permanent use a fixed-mount beacon may be preferred.
