Rotating beacon 700/50114 JCB H 124 mm, aftermarket

Rotating beacon 700/50114, H 124 mm is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines. The card also lists 700/36800, 401/E0088. The photo shows an LED beacon on a magnetic base with a coiled cable and a cigarette-lighter plug.

The beacon is chosen for the machine's system voltage (12 V here), since a 12 V beacon soon fails on a 24 V machine. Its height and base type are considered with the cab roof design and any low doorways the machine must pass through. Clean the cover with a soft cloth and water, since solvents dull the plastic and weaken the light. When not needed, the beacon can be removed and kept in the cab, protecting it from theft and branch strikes. The cigarette-lighter plug contacts can oxidise over time and make the beacon cut out now and then, so keep the plug and socket clean. Overstretching the coiled cable can break its inner wires, so leave enough length for the distance from roof to socket. If moisture collects under the cover, check the beacon's seal.
