CAT bushes

Bushes for Caterpillar backhoe loaders: an axle oscillation bush, inner and outer bushes for the slew cylinder carriage mounting, a slew cylinder rod bush, the boom to swing frame bush and a boom cylinder rod bush. A bush is matched by CAT part number.

Bushes are pressed into the eye with an interference fit, so check the bore before fitting: if the eye is worn oval, a new bush will not hold and the eye has to be built up by welding and line-bored first. Press the old bush out or cut it carefully without damaging the seat; cooling the new bush makes pressing easier. After the pin is in, grease the joint through the nipple until fresh grease appears at the edges. The axle pivot bush 154-5404 wears from the constant oscillation of the front axle: axle play noticed when the front wheels are lifted off the ground shows that it is worn.
