This harness is listed for Caterpillar machines under the number 190-3785. The one in the photo has a yellow braided protective sleeve and many sealed connectors, a design that withstands the heat, oil and vibration of the engine bay. The harness links sensors and actuators to the machine's control unit, and a broken wire or corroded connector causes fault codes, rough running or a lost sensor reading. The harness is chosen by part number and its connectors compared with the old one. The connectors of such harnesses are latched: press the latch to unplug them and do not pull on the wires. Order the harness after checking the machine serial number. If connector latches are broken, the connector body is secured with a tie.

Fitting

Before the change, switch off the ignition and disconnect the battery negative. Note the route and tie points as the old cable comes off. Run the new one along the same route, secure it with ties away from moving parts, hot surfaces and sharp edges, and push the connectors home until they lock. After reconnecting the battery, test the related functions.
