Brake accumulator 332/H3679 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders.

On machines with hydraulically powered brakes, the brake accumulator stores the oil needed for braking under pressure. Inside there is a chamber charged with nitrogen and a diaphragm or bladder that separates the gas from the oil. The pump forces oil into the accumulator and the gas is compressed; when the operator brakes, the stored oil flows through the brake valve to the pistons. This leaves enough pressure for several full brake applications even if the engine stops. Accumulators are charged with nitrogen only, as using air or oxygen is dangerous. The label on the accumulator body must stay legible, as the volume and pressure are checked from it when the part is replaced.

Fitting

Before removing the accumulator, stop the engine and press the pedal repeatedly to release the pressure in the brake circuit. Clean the thread, use a new seal and tighten the accumulator to the specified torque. After fitting, check for leaks and that pressure builds.
