4WD clutch cover 459/30451 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines. According to the product card, this is the gearbox cover of the front axle engagement clutch.

A transmission cover or housing part encloses the gearbox internals, carries bearing seats and oil passages and connects the gearbox to the engine or frame. Its bearing and seal seats and gasket faces are precision-machined, and a crack, wear or damage on any of them leads to oil leaks, misaligned bearings and noisy gears. A cover cracked by impact or overtightening is usually replaced rather than repaired. Housing parts are usually cast iron or aluminium alloy, with the bearing seats and locating holes machined in one setting so the shaft axes stay aligned. If a seat shows wear or signs of a spinning ring, replacing only the bearing will not solve the problem.

In the first hours after the repair, watch the transmission oil temperature and level, and do the first oil and filter change earlier than usual.
