For the JCB machines: transmission spring disc 445/05110, an aftermarket part.

A spring disc is chosen by thickness, inside and outside diameter and dish height, and a different disc changes the pack preload and clearance. When a clutch pack is repaired, the spring discs are usually renewed along with the plates, taking care over the fitting direction, as a reversed disc spring will not produce the required force. If a clutch pack has several spring discs, they are all changed together, as discs with different fatigue levels can make the piston move crooked. Note their order and direction when dismantling.

Fitting

When assembling the pack, fit the spring disc in the direction and order shown in the service manual, stack the oil-soaked plates and measure the pack clearance. Test the piston movement with low-pressure air. After the gearbox is assembled, check the clutch pressures and shifts. In the first hours after the repair, watch the transmission oil temperature and level, and do the first oil and filter change earlier than usual.
