In needle bearings, the cage material and number of needles determine the load capacity. Store the bearing clean and dry and take it out of its packaging just before fitting. The life of a needle bearing depends heavily on the cleanliness and viscosity of the oil: the oil film between the thin needles and the surfaces is very thin, and even small particles in the oil leave marks on them. Changing the transmission filter and oil on time is therefore especially important for needle bearings. After fitting a new bearing, turn the gear on the shaft by hand to check that it runs smoothly without catching.

Fitting
