For the JCB machines: solenoid coil 332/D6317, an aftermarket part.
A coil fault is easily mistaken for a hydraulic valve fault, so diagnosis starts with the electrics: fuse, wiring, connector and coil resistance. Moisture and corrosion inside the connector reduce the voltage at the coil and make the function work intermittently. When changing the coil, clean the cartridge body, slide the new coil on and secure it with the nut without overtightening, which can damage the cartridge body. The coil is chosen by part number and voltage, since a coil for a different voltage either will not work or will overheat and burn out. The aftermarket coil matches the original's bore, voltage and connector type. The coil comes new.

Fitting
Before changing the coil, switch off the ignition and unplug the connector. Slide the new coil onto the cartridge, tighten the nut by hand, plug the connector in and check the function in operation. Clean and dry the connector contacts before plugging in, and make sure the connector seal is in place. Tighten the coil nut by hand without overdoing it. After fitting, test the function from the cab.
