Starter motor 320/A9080 JCB JS, OEM Mahle

For the JCB JS crawler excavators: starter motor 320/A9080, an OEM part made by Mahle. The card also lists AZF4267.

The starter label carries the manufacturer code, voltage and power, and these are compared with the old starter when choosing a new one. Starters from different makers may exist for the same engine, but all must share the mounting flange, pinion and electrical values. The starter comes new, with its pinion and mounting face protected in transit. Refit the protective caps on the terminals during fitting, since an exposed positive terminal can short if a tool touches it.

According to the product cards, this is a 24 V, 4 kW, 11-tooth starter with clockwise (CR) rotation; the cards list JCB JS200, JS205, JS210, JS220, JS330 and JZ235 excavators. Fitting

Do not run the starter for more than 10-15 seconds at a time; if the engine does not start, pause to let the starter cool. Long cranking overheats the windings and shortens starter life. After the change, check the battery charge and terminals too, since a weak battery overloads a new starter as well.
