Starter motor 320/A9080 is an aftermarket part for the JCB JS crawler excavators.

OEM starters come from the makers who supply starters to the machine manufacturer for original fitment, while aftermarket starters are built to the same mounting dimensions and electrical values. Either way, the choice is made by part number and the details on the old starter's label. The starter is heavy and should be supported during removal and fitting so it is not dropped. Before fitting, clean the seat in the flywheel housing and the flange face, since paint or rust can weaken the starter's earth. Clean the cable lugs and tighten the nuts without overdoing it.

Fitting

Do not run the starter for more than 10-15 seconds at a time; if the engine does not start, pause to let the starter cool. Long cranking overheats the windings and shortens starter life. After the change, check the battery charge and terminals too, since a weak battery overloads a new starter as well.
