For the JCB machines: CETOP 3 solenoid directional valve 25/MM6396, an aftermarket part.

Because the CETOP 3 interface is standard, the valve fits the sub-plate with the same hole pattern, but the spool type (the centre position flow pattern) and coil voltage are specific to the application, so the valve is chosen by part number. When fitting, renew the four O-rings on the mounting face and tighten the bolts in a cross pattern to the specified torque. Label the coil connectors when removing them, since swapped connectors reverse the function.

Compatibility

According to sources, 25/MM6396 is the CETOP solenoid valve assembly used in the transmission control of JCB 3CX, 3DX and 4CX backhoe loaders, and it supersedes 25/220998. The catalogue also has the OEM version of this part. Other parts are in Solenoids and valves.

Fitting

Before the change, stop the engine, relieve the hydraulic pressure by moving the control levers a few times and switch off the ignition. Unplug the coil and remove the valve or cartridge. Lubricate the O-rings of the new part with clean hydraulic oil, fit it into its cavity without tilting and tighten to the specified torque. After connecting the plug, start the engine, test the function and check for leaks.

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
