For the JCB machines: twin-coil solenoid valve 12 V 25/MM5000, a genuine JCB part. The card also lists 25/MM4825.

The connectors of the two coils must not be mixed up, since swapped connectors make the function work in reverse, so label them when removing. Find the faulty coil by measuring each coil's resistance. The cartridge O-rings and back-up rings must not be cut when fitting, since a cut O-ring causes internal leakage and the function creeps. After the change, test the function in both directions. The valve comes new. Keep the coil connectors clean and dry.

Fitting

Before the change, stop the engine, relieve the hydraulic pressure by moving the control levers a few times and switch off the ignition. Unplug the coil and remove the valve or cartridge. Lubricate the O-rings of the new part with clean hydraulic oil, fit it into its cavity without tilting and tighten to the specified torque. After connecting the plug, start the engine, test the function and check for leaks.

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
