For the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders: wheel position sensor 701/80312, a genuine JCB part.

The sensor screws into its bracket by its threaded body and is locked by two lock nuts, and the gap to the target is set by turning the nuts. Too small a gap lets the moving target strike the sensor tip, while too large a gap loses the signal. Secure the sensor cable with ties so it is not stretched as the axle and steering move, since cables near the axle are exposed to mud and stone strikes. After the change, set the wheels straight and check that the steer modes change without trouble. Inductive sensors detect only metal targets, and metal swarf or mud built up on the sensor tip can give a false signal, so check and clean the sensor tip and target when the machine is washed. If the tip shows signs of striking the target, reset the gap.

Fitting
