For the JCB machines: solenoid coil 24 V 25/221263, an aftermarket part. The card also lists 717/20309.

According to sources, the numbers 25/221263 and 717/20309 refer to the same solenoid coil, used on JCB backhoe loaders, wheeled loaders and JS excavators. The body of the coil in the photo is marked DC 24 V / 14 W. When replacing a coil, its voltage must match the machine's system: a 24 V coil pulls weakly on 12 V, and a 12 V coil soon burns out on 24 V. The coil connector must match its mate on the harness. A plastic-bodied coil can crack if its fixing nut is overtightened. The coil slides onto the valve cartridge tube and is held by the nut on top, so it can be changed without opening the hydraulics. Never remove a live coil from its cartridge, since without the cartridge it soon overheats and burns out. When the coil burns out the connected function stops; first measure the voltage at the connector and the coil resistance.

Fitting

After fitting, secure the harness with ties so it does not touch moving parts or hot surfaces, since a chafed wire loses its insulation and causes a short circuit.

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
