For the JCB machines: heater blower resistor 716/30152, a genuine JCB part.
A common cause of a burnt resistor is a struggling blower motor: a motor with worn bearings draws more current and overheats the resistor. So when replacing the resistor, check that the motor turns freely and quietly. The resistor coils must not touch each other or the body, since a crushed coil causes a short. The resistor is screwed through the holes in its mounting plate and its terminals pushed on firmly. Try every fan speed after the change. Some resistors have a thermal fuse that breaks the circuit on overheating, and if it has blown the resistor is replaced. A resistor that keeps burning out points to a struggling motor or blocked duct, so check the duct and cab filter too. The resistor is chosen for the voltage and number of steps that suit the fan switch.

Compatibility
The catalogue also has the aftermarket version of this part. Other parts are in Relays.
Fitting
After fitting, secure the harness with ties so it does not touch moving parts or hot surfaces, since a chafed wire loses its insulation and causes a short circuit.
