Mini relay 12 V 716/30148 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines.

A mini relay is an electromagnetic switch that uses a small control current to switch heavy-current circuits such as headlights, work lights, the horn or fans, protecting the cab switch contacts from high current. According to sources, 716/30148 is a 12 V, 40 A, 5-pin mini relay used on JCB backhoe loaders, excavators and other JCB machines. The five-pin design lets the relay open one circuit while closing another (changeover contact). A faulty relay fails to operate the function, cuts out now and then or stays on. Mini relays of the same case size are used in many circuits in the fuse and relay box, so carrying a spare relay in the machine gives a quick fix in case of failure. The relay can be identified by the diagram printed on its case.

Fitting

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
