This is a 50 A maxi blade fuse with its rating marked on the body. Maxi fuses protect high-current circuits such as the battery, alternator, heater or main distribution: when a short or overload occurs, the fusible element inside melts and stops the wires overheating and burning. A blown fuse is recognised by the broken element visible through its clear body. Always replace a fuse with one of the same rating, since a larger fuse leaves the wire unprotected and creates a fire risk. If a fuse keeps blowing, find the fault in the circuit first.

Fitting

Before the change, switch off the circuit; pull the fuse straight out of its holder and push the new one fully home. If the holder contacts show oxide or melting, check the holder too.
