Universal joint strap 11003139 is an aftermarket part for the backhoe loaders with Carraro axles.

The universal joint strap holds the joint caps to the flange or yoke on some propshafts; it is tightened with two bolts and stops the caps coming out of their seats. If the strap stretches or bends or its bolts loosen, the caps shift, the shaft vibrates and the joint wears quickly, and in the worst case the shaft can drop out. The straps and bolts are checked every time the propshaft is removed and are usually renewed.

Fitting

The strap is chosen by part number to suit the joint cap diameter, and sources include straps and bolts in JCB propshaft joint kits. On assembly, seat the caps fully, tighten the strap bolts evenly to the specified torque and do not reuse old bolts. After assembly, turn the shaft by hand to check the joint moves freely. The strap bolts are usually self-locking or fitted with thread locker so vibration does not loosen them. After refitting the shaft, make a short test drive and check for vibration and knocks.
