Transmission / axle output flange 459/70138 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines.

Wear on the flange seal surface is usually caused by an unbalanced propshaft, worn universal joints or a missing dust shield in front of the seal in dusty work. If the cause is not dealt with, a new flange will also wear early. Check the propshaft bolts and joints along with the flange change. A thin film of oil on the splines also makes the next removal of the flange easier.

Fitting

Remove the flange with a puller after disconnecting the propshaft and undoing the nut. After renewing the seal, fit the new flange with the splines and seal surface lightly oiled, tighten the nut to the manual torque or bearing preload and lock it. Tighten the propshaft bolts to the specified torque and check for leaks after the first run. Marking the flange position on the shaft before undoing the nut makes reassembly easier on propshafts that need balance. The nut is usually a locking type and is not reused.
