Hydraulic cylinder piston 595/27717, 70x50 mm is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders.

A cylinder piston is steel, with grooves for the seals and wear bands on the outside and a bore or thread for the rod end in the centre. Piston size is given by the bore and rod diameters, as in the product name (for example 120x60 mm). The grooves are machined to suit the seal kit, so the seal kit of the same cylinder is used when the piston is replaced. On a piston with burred or dented grooves, new seals soon tear. The piston is secured on the rod with a nut or locking pin, and the torque in the service data is followed. The aftermarket piston is made to the dimensions of the original and fits in place of the old one. The piston is chosen by part number. The piston is steel and comes new.

Fitting

Lay the seals and wear rings in their grooves without twisting, fit the piston to the rod and tighten its fixing to the specified torque. Oil the rod and piston with clean hydraulic oil and ease them into the barrel without dragging the seals over threads or edges.

JCB 3CX / 4CX Hydraulic Pressure: Settings, Pressure Testing and Causes of Low Pressure

On JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders with a gear pump, the working pressure of the hydraulic system is limited by the main relief valve in the loader valve: 236–241 bar on machines up to serial number 964124 and 248–252 bar on machines from serial number 964125 (standard and high-pressure hydraulics).
