Hammer line pipe 128/F9331 JCB 3CX/4CX, aftermarket

For the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders: hammer line pipe 128/F9331, an aftermarket part. The card also lists 335/G9290.

Long hammer line pipes run along the dipper and suffer most from breaker vibration. The rubber inserts in the clamps damp the vibration, and hardened or missing inserts lead to cracked pipes, so renew the clamp inserts when replacing a pipe. The pipe is protected against corrosion by a zinc coating. Keep the pipe ends capped until fitting. A leak in the hammer line means both oil loss and a weaker breaker, so inspect the line regularly. The pipe is chosen by part number and compared with the old one for shape, end fittings and brackets. The aftermarket pipe comes new, with its ends capped for transport. Because of breaker vibration, every joint in the hammer line should be checked regularly. Carry and fit long pipes with two people so they do not bend.

Fitting

Before fitting, release the system pressure and cap the hoses. Put the new pipe in place, start the connections by hand, then tighten the clamps and unions; start the engine and check for leaks. Do not bend or force the pipe during fitting, since a pipe under strain cracks.
