Hydraulic pipe, left 334/C2548 is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders.

The brackets and welded fixings on the pipe set its position on the machine, and on the new pipe they must sit where they were on the old one. The photo shows the pipe's shape and end fittings. Pipes are protected from corrosion with zinc or a similar coating, so take care not to scratch it during fitting. The union threads and seals at the pipe ends must be clean, since a dirty union leaks and carries dirt into the hydraulic system. When fitting, start every connection by hand first and then tighten the clamps and unions; this order keeps the pipe free of strain. The pipe is chosen by part number and compared with the old one for shape, end fittings and brackets. The aftermarket pipe comes new with its ends capped for transport. A leaking pipe not only loses oil but can also let dust and dirt into the system.

Fitting

Renew the union seals and O-rings during the change. After fitting the pipe, run the related service through its full stroke several times, bleed it and check the joints for leaks under load. Recheck the clamps and unions after the first hours of work, since a clamp that works loose under vibration soon lets the pipe crack.
