The cap is chosen by part number to suit the size and shape of the connection. Closing every opened connection straight away with a suitable cap while working on the fuel system is a simple and effective way to avoid injector and pump failures. Cracked or lost caps are replaced. While the system is open, it is safer to close connections with proper caps rather than rags or tape, as cloth fibres can also block nozzle holes.
