Pump mounting ring (Perkins) 02/201712 is an aftermarket part for the Perkins-engined JCB machines. According to the product card, this ring fits under the injection pump on the Perkins engine.

An engine O-ring seals the joint of a sensor, oil pickup pipe, dipstick tube, oil cooler, fuel pump or cover with the engine block. Heat and oil harden the rings over time and they lose their resilience. A failed ring on the oil pickup lets the pump draw in air and the oil pressure drop, while other failed rings cause external oil leaks.

Fitting

On assembly, clean the groove and mating face, wet the ring with the working fluid or suitable grease and seat it without twisting. Protect the ring as it passes sharp edges and threads, tighten the joint to the specified torque and check for leaks under pressure. Spare rings are stored somewhere cool and dark, since rubber in sunlight cracks at the surface. Before fitting, inspect the ring for cracks and cuts.
