Oil filter 02/971635 is an aftermarket part for the JCB generators.

The engine oil change interval depends on working conditions and oil quality: dust, frequent short running cycles and high temperatures shorten it. Delaying the oil and filter change thins the oil and reduces its protection. During the change, look at the colour and consistency of the drained oil: coolant in the oil or a smell of fuel points to an engine fault. The filter comes new.

Fitting

The oil filter is changed together with the engine oil, with the engine warm, since warm oil drains better and carries the dirt with it. Remove the old filter, clean the seal face and check that the old seal has not stayed on the housing. Lubricate the new filter's seal with clean engine oil, screw it on by hand and tighten by the amount the maker specifies. Start the engine, check that the oil pressure lamp goes out and there is no leak around the filter, then top up the oil level. Check the engine oil level with the dipstick a few minutes after stopping, with the machine on level ground; it must be between the marks. Too much oil is as harmful as too little, causing foaming and seal leaks.
