Cylinder head gasket 02/203176 is an aftermarket part for the Perkins 1104 (RG) engine. The card also lists 3681E051, 916-535.

The head gasket separates the combustion chambers, oil passages and coolant jacket between block and head. When it fails, coolant is lost, bubbles appear in the radiator, oil and water mix, white smoke comes from the exhaust and the engine overheats. After overheating, check the head and block faces for flatness. The multi-layer steel gasket is made to withstand combustion pressure and heat; fine beads seal when compressed. That is why the gasket is single-use and is always renewed when the head comes off. Scratches on the faces or old gasket residue stop the new one seating.
