OEM turbo cartridge 433289-5284S (047) made by Garrett is the centre section of the Garrett 762931-5001S turbocharger. Garrett makes the JCB Dieselmax turbochargers. There is no product photo yet.

The turbo cartridge (centre housing rotating assembly, CHRA) is the rotating group of the turbocharger: turbine wheel, compressor wheel, shaft, bearings and the oiled bearing housing. If the turbine and compressor housings are sound and the fault is shaft play, an oil leak or wheel damage, the cartridge is replaced instead of the whole turbo. The photo shows the cartridge with both wheels and the bearing housing. It is for Garrett GT2256S type turbochargers.

The cartridge is listed for the Garrett 762931-5001S turbocharger with JCB number 320/06047 and is used on JCB 3DX, 4DX and other backhoe loaders with the Dieselmax Tier 2 engine. An aftermarket cartridge is also available. For the complete unit there is the turbocharger 320/06047.

Fitting

Replace the cartridge in clean conditions: remove the turbine and compressor housings, clean the seating faces, fit the cartridge in the same orientation and tighten the clamps. The cartridge comes balanced and the wheels are not removed. Prime it with clean oil through the oil inlet and change the engine oil and filters; turbo parts are in JCB Dieselmax engine.
