Core plug 320/00883, 30 mm is an aftermarket part for the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine.

The core plug closes the casting holes in the block and keeps the coolant inside. Corrosion or frozen coolant can make a plug leak or pop out, causing coolant loss and overheating. Replacing a plug usually only needs the parts around it removed. The block has several plugs of different diameters; the size or position of this one is given in the table and the name. The plug is steel.

Fitting

Do not press the plug in at an angle; a tilted plug soon leaks. After fitting, bring the engine to temperature and check around the plug. Drive the new plug in squarely. Check the coolant level after replacing the plug.

JCB Dieselmax Engine in the JCB 3CX / 4CX: Builds, Technical Data and Servicing

Section K of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-14) deals with the installation of the JCB Dieselmax engine in JCB 3C, 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. It gives the technical data for each engine build, the cold start heater electrics with their fault codes and the operation of the viscous fan coupling, together with the removal procedures for the radiator, expansion tank, fuel injection pump and the engine itself. The PDF runs to 30 pages.
