Column switch 0501216209 ZF, aftermarket

The forward-reverse (shuttle) column switch sits to the left of the steering wheel and lets the operator choose the machine's direction without taking a hand off the wheel; its forward, neutral and reverse positions control the transmission direction clutches. In neutral the machine does not move, and on many machines the engine can only be started in this position. A faulty switch may stop the machine moving one way, delay direction changes or let the clutches slip. For safety, after replacing the switch check that the starter works in neutral and not in the other positions. The switch comes with its harness and connector, which plugs into the harness below the column. The lever positions should be felt clearly.

Fitting

After fitting, secure the harness with ties so it does not touch moving parts or hot surfaces, since a chafed wire loses its insulation and causes a short circuit.
