Starter motor 1440684701 is an aftermarket part for the JCB JS crawler excavators.

The starter's condition can also be judged by measuring battery voltage while cranking: in a 12 V system the voltage should not fall below roughly 9.5-10 V while the starter runs, and twice that value applies to a 24 V system. If the voltage drops below this limit with a fully charged battery, the starter may be drawing too much current because of shorted windings, seized bearings or an engine that is mechanically hard to turn. If the voltage stays normal but the starter turns slowly, look for losses in the cables and connections. These measurements avoid replacing a healthy starter for nothing.

Fitting

Do not run the starter for more than 10-15 seconds at a time; if the engine does not start, pause to let the starter cool. Long cranking overheats the windings and shortens starter life. After the change, check the battery charge and terminals too, since a weak battery overloads a new starter as well.
