CETOP 3 solenoid directional valve 25/MM6394 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines. The card also lists 25/104700.

A CETOP 3 (NG6) solenoid directional valve mounts on a sub-plate with four bolts through a standard interface and is operated by coils at both ends. When one coil is energised, the spool shifts and sends oil to the relevant line; with no voltage the springs hold the spool in its centre position. As the photos show, these valves have 12 V DC coils. A faulty valve stops the function working one way, lets the spool stick or makes a coil run hot.

Compatibility

According to sources, the numbers 25/MM6394, 25/104700 and 25/103000 refer to the same 12 V CETOP 3 solenoid valve, used on JCB backhoe loaders, Loadall telehandlers and wheeled loaders. The label of the genuine valve in the photo shows the Eaton Vickers brand. The catalogue also has the genuine version of this part. Other parts are in Solenoids and valves.

Fitting

Contaminated hydraulic oil is the most common cause of solenoid valve failure, so check the filters when replacing a valve. Plug the coil connector in clean and dry and keep the wire away from hot surfaces. The valve is chosen by part number and coil voltage.

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
