For the JCB machines: speed sensor 716/30134, an aftermarket part.

According to sources, 716/30134 is a gear tooth sensor with a Deutsch connector found in JCB telehandler and dump truck catalogues. The sensor in the photo has a flanged plastic body and a Deutsch-type connector at the cable end. Gear tooth sensors are sensitive to the gap between the gear and the sensor tip, so a clean flange face and a sensor fully seated in its bore matter for a correct signal. Metal swarf collected on the sensor tip distorts the signal. Before replacing the sensor, check the connector pins and wiring, since moisture in the connector makes the signal intermittent. When cleaning the sensor bore, do not let dirt fall into the gearbox. The sensor is chosen by part number and connector type. The sensor comes new.

Fitting

Remove the sensor by undoing its fixing bolt; lubricate the new sensor's O-ring, push it into its bore without tilting and secure it with the bolt. Push the connector home until it locks and secure the cable. After the change, drive the machine to check gear shifts and the gauge.

JCB 3CX and 4CX wiring diagrams before and after May 2009: sheets and component keys

Section C of the JCB service manual (publication 9803/3290-15) gives the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loader wiring diagram in two versions: one for machines built up to May 2009 with analogue instruments and one for machines from May 2009 with the digital instrument panel. On the earlier machines the main machine circuit takes two sheets, with separate circuits for the gearboxes and options; the later circuit runs to 15 sheets. Below are the main sheets, the component keys and a guide to reading wire numbers.
