Crab steer sensor F06/16690 is an aftermarket part for the Hidromek backhoe loaders (Carraro axles). The card also lists 643612, 84197528.

The crab steer sensor detects the steering position of the axle on machines with Carraro axles and signals the control system that keeps the wheels aligned in four-wheel and crab steer modes. According to sources, F06/16690 is the crab stroke sensor for Carraro axles, also known as 643612 and 84197528; the product card lists it for Hidromek HMK 102B, 102S, 105 and 62 backhoe loaders. It screws into the axle casing by its threaded brass body and has a Deutsch-type connector at the cable end. A faulty sensor prevents mode changes or lets the wheels drift out of line. The sensor comes new, and the connector at the cable end plugs straight into the axle harness.

Fitting

Screw the sensor into its bore in the axle casing with a new seal and tighten to the specified torque. Secure the cable so it is not stretched as the axle oscillates and the wheels steer. After the change, set the wheels straight and try the steering modes in turn.
