For the JCB machines: air filter restriction switch 332/J6722, a genuine JCB part.
The switch fits into the air filter housing or intake pipe with a seal; without the seal it draws in outside air and may give a false signal. Its diaphragm must be protected from dust and water, so the connector cover and plastic body must be free of cracks. If the warning is still lit after the air filter has been changed, look for a restriction in the intake or a faulty switch. The switch is chosen by part number so that its switching vacuum suits the machine, since another value makes the warning come on too early or too late. On dusty sites the filter warning comes on more often, which is normal, and regular cleaning of the housing's dust valve extends filter life. If the element is blown out with compressed air and reused, the paper can tear, and a torn filter sends dust straight into the engine. The switch does not detect this, because a torn filter creates no restriction.

Fitting
After fitting, secure the harness with ties so it does not touch moving parts or hot surfaces, since a chafed wire loses its insulation and causes a short circuit.
