The stabiliser foot is the part of the leg that bears on the ground and, during digging, transfers a large share of the machine's weight to it. The foot is attached to the end of the leg by a pin and rocks slightly to suit the surface. On reversible feet one side is flat for soft ground and the other toothed for hard ground; rubber pads are used when working on asphalt so as not to damage the surface. The foot and pad take the load every time the machine is lowered onto its legs, so they are checked regularly for cracks and wear; when working on asphalt, check that the pad is in place. If the foot pin will not take grease, the nipple and passage are cleaned.

Fitting
