Lower spacer washer 9R-0366 CAT, aftermarket

Lower spacer washer 9R-0366 is an aftermarket part for the Caterpillar machines. According to the product card, this part is a lower spacer washer.

Adjusting shims set the axial position of parts and the bearing preload in gearboxes, axles and other units. Shim thickness matters to hundredths of a millimetre: too thick a shim squeezes and heats the bearings, too thin a shim leaves play and upsets gear meshing. Adjusting shims are therefore chosen to the measured value, and shims of different thicknesses may be used in one unit. The measured value is recorded in the service record.

Fitting

Before fitting the washer, clean the seating faces and remove burrs and old seal remains. Fit the washer the right way round and tighten the joint to the specified torque. Copper and aluminium sealing washers that have been removed are not reused; new ones are fitted.
