Track rod end 453/23401 is an aftermarket part for the JCB Loadall telehandlers. This part is a track rod end that connects the rod to the knuckle arm.
The ball joint sits at the end of the track rod and connects it to the steering knuckle, allowing the angle to change as the machine steers and the axle moves. When the ball and its seat wear, steering play, clicking and loss of wheel alignment appear. A ball joint with a torn boot soon fails from dust and water. The ball joint is one of the most active points in the steering linkage, so it is always checked at routine service.

Compatibility

Fitting
Before removing the old joint, mark or measure its position on the rod so the new one is set to the same length. Separate the taper with a splitter; fit the new joint's taper clean and dry, tighten the nut to the specified torque and fit a new split pin. After fitting, check the wheel alignment. The part comes new; before fitting, check that the boot is intact, the taper clean and the thread undamaged. Also check the ball joint at the other end of the rod and the knuckle trunnions for play, since if all the play in the steering is not removed the new part will soon be overloaded. Recheck the nut torque after the first hours of work.
