Track rod 458/10612 is an aftermarket part for the JCB Loadall telehandlers.
The track rod is chosen by part number according to its length, taper sizes and thread type, since a rod of a different length upsets the alignment. On four-wheel-steer machines the front and rear axle rods may differ. After fitting, check the toe-in against the service manual and tighten and lock the nuts to the specified torque.

Compatibility
According to sources, 458/10612 is a steering track rod of JCB telehandlers. Other parts are in Front axle.
Fitting
Before removing the old rod, mark the position of the adjusting nuts. Separate the ball joint tapers with a proper splitter, since hammering can damage the knuckle bore. When fitting the new rod the tapers must be clean and dry, the nuts tightened to the specified torque and new split pins fitted. After fitting, turn the steering to full lock both ways and check that the rod fouls nothing. The track rod comes new, and its ball joint boots and nuts are checked before fitting. When choosing a rod, compare it with the old one for length, thread direction and ball joint tapers, since a rod of a different length can make it impossible to set the toe-in. A bent rod is replaced, not straightened, because straightened steel is weakened and can bend again under load. Watch tyre wear in the first weeks after the change.
