Track rod 453/23400 is an aftermarket part for the JCB Loadall telehandlers.
The track rod transmits the steering cylinder's movement to the hub knuckles and makes both wheels turn together. When the ball joints at its ends develop play, the steering feels loose, the machine wanders on the road and the front tyres wear unevenly. If the rod is bent by an impact, the wheel alignment is lost. A worn track rod is replaced without delay, as it can lead to loss of steering control. Lay the new rod beside the old one to compare the length and taper ends.

Compatibility
According to sources, 453/23400 is the steering link (track rod) assembly of JCB telehandlers such as the 504B, 520-55, 526, 528-70, 530 and 540. The catalogue also has the aftermarket version (option 2) and aftermarket version (option 3) of this part. Other parts are in Front axle.
Fitting
Before fitting the rod, clean the taper holes in the knuckles and check them for ovality, since a ball joint will not seat tightly in a worn hole. After torquing the nuts, fit new split pins, lock the adjusting nuts and check that both rod ends lie in the same plane. Recheck the nut torque after the first hours of work.
