Steering pivot pin 911/22800 JCB Loadall, aftermarket

Steering pivot pin 911/22800 is an aftermarket part for the JCB Loadall telehandlers. This pin is the pivot pin of a steering joint.

Pins inside the axle and in the steering joints hold gears, brake plates or joints in the right position and carry load. The differential pin is the axis on which the planet gears turn; brake reaction pins stop the brake plates rotating and pass the braking torque to the axle casing; steering pivot pins are the pivot point of the knuckle joints. A worn pin causes play, knocking and rapid wear of the related gears or bores. Most pins are made of hardened steel with a ground surface, so their dimensions must match those of the old pin exactly.

Compatibility

According to sources, 911/22800 is the 105 x 25 mm pivot pin used in the steering joints of JCB machines; the product card gives the 531-70 and 540-140 telehandlers. Other parts are in Front axle.

Fitting

The pin comes new. Before fitting, lubricate it with clean axle oil or grease and slide it squarely into its bore without hammering. Renew the retaining parts (circlips, tension pins, split pins). After assembly, fill the axle with the specified oil and grease the steering pin nipples. Before fitting the pin, measure the bore diameter, and repair an oval or scored bore along with the pin change. For differential pins, also check the thrust washers and inner surfaces of the planet gears, since worn washers increase the gear clearances and make the differential noisy on turns.
