Cylinder eye bush 809/04006 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB Loadall telehandlers.
The cylinder eye bush is pressed into the eye (mounting end) of a hydraulic cylinder, and the pin turns inside it. The bush takes the friction between the pin and the eye and protects the cylinder itself from wear, so a worn bush can be replaced to save the expensive cylinder body. When the bush wears, play develops in the joint, the boom knocks under load and the cylinder is exposed to side loads that shorten the life of its seals. Most bushed joints are greased through a nipple, and the grease also keeps dirt out of the gap between pin and bush.

Compatibility
According to sources, 809/04006 is the lift cylinder end bush of JCB Loadall telehandlers; the product card gives it as a bush bearing. The catalogue also has the aftermarket version of this part. Other parts are in Bearings.
Fitting
Remove the old bush with a suitable mandrel or puller without heating the cylinder eye. Clean the eye, press the new bush in squarely and, if it has a lubrication hole, line it up with the grease channel. Fit the pin with grease and grease the joint. When changing the bush, check the bush and pin at the other end of the cylinder too, since unless the play at both ends is removed the cylinder will still take side loads. If the cylinder seals are leaking, it is advisable to renew the seal kit in the same job.
