For the JCB machines: transmission oil seal 904/20179, an aftermarket part. This seal is used in the transmission.

A seal is chosen by inside diameter (shaft), outside diameter (bore) and width, and also by lip type and material. Seals with a dust lip are used in axles and gearboxes working in dirt, and single-lip seals in enclosed housings. A seal of the same size in a different material may harden faster at high temperature or with some oils.

Fitting

Remove the old seal without scoring the bore or shaft. Clean the bore, lubricate the seal lip with the working oil or grease and drive the seal in evenly, lip towards the oil, with a flat mandrel on its outside diameter. After assembly, top up the oil and check for leaks after the first run. Where possible, the new seal is set a few millimetres away from the old seal's track rather than on it.
