Sump O-ring 320/04162 JCB 444, genuine

For the machines with the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine: sump O-ring 320/04162, a genuine JCB part. This ring is used at a joint on the sump side.

An engine O-ring seals the joint of a sensor, oil pickup pipe, dipstick tube, oil cooler, fuel pump or cover with the engine block. Heat and oil harden the rings over time and they lose their resilience. A failed ring on the oil pickup lets the pump draw in air and the oil pressure drop, while other failed rings cause external oil leaks.

Fitting

Spare rings are stored somewhere cool and dark, since rubber in sunlight cracks at the surface. Before fitting, inspect the ring for cracks and cuts.
