An O-ring is a rubber ring that seals the round joint between two parts: it sits in a groove and is squeezed on assembly, stopping oil, hydraulic fluid or fuel escaping. Fitting

Spare rings are stored somewhere cool and dark, away from sunlight and ozone, since rubber left in the light cracks at the surface and starts leaking soon after fitting. Before fitting, inspect the ring for cracks, cuts and moulding flash.
