Kingpin seal 904/50048 is a genuine JCB part for the JCB JS wheeled excavators. According to the product card, this is the kingpin (half-pin) seal.

A pin dust seal is fitted where the pin leaves the bush in boom, dipper, bucket or steering joints. Its job is to keep the grease in the bush and stop sand, mud and water getting between the pin and bush. In a joint with a torn seal, the grease is quickly pushed out and abrasive dust wears the pin and bush in a short time, leading to play and knocking.

Fitting

Clean the seat and press the seal in with its lip facing outwards, towards the dirt. When fitting the pin, make sure the seal lip does not fold over and lightly grease the pin end. After assembly, grease the joint and check the seal again after a few hours of work.
