Transmission seal kit, aftermarket

Transmission seal kit is an aftermarket part for the hydraulic units of construction machinery. The product card gives this simply as a transmission kit.

A transmission kit brings together the gaskets, oil seals, O-rings and sealing rings to be replaced during an overhaul or partial repair of the gearbox. In powershift transmissions, oil reaches the clutch packs under pressure through many rings and seals on the shafts and in the housing; when they wear, clutch pressure drops, gears engage late or slip, and oil leaks from housing joints and shaft exits. Once the gearbox is opened, renewing every seal at the same time avoids having to strip it again soon after.

Fitting

Strip the transmission in a clean place, clean and inspect the parts, then fit the new gaskets and seals. Clear the mating faces of old gasket material and wet the seal lips and O-rings with clean transmission oil. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque, fill the gearbox with the specified oil, and after the first run measure the clutch pressures and check for leaks. In the first hours after the repair, watch the transmission oil temperature and level; if shifts are delayed or slip, stop working and check the clutch pressures again.
