Joint pin JSV0079 is an aftermarket part for the JCB JS crawler excavators.

A joint pin is a hardened steel shaft that connects two parts (boom, dipper, bucket, hydraulic cylinder or link) and forms the axis on which they pivot. The pin runs in a bush and carries all the forces of digging and loading. If greasing is neglected or the bush is worn, the pin surface becomes scored and play develops in the joint, causing knocks as the bucket moves, loss of precision and ovalled eyes.

Fitting

Before the change, lower the attachment to the ground or support it securely, stop the engine and release the hydraulic pressure. Remove the locking element and drift the pin out with a suitable punch without damaging the eyes. After cleaning and checking the eye and bush, fit the new pin greased, refit the locking element and grease the joint until clean grease comes out.
