For the Perkins 1004 series engines: oil pump relief valve 02/202447, an aftermarket part. The card also lists 4138A054, 4138A056, 997-123.

With low oil pressure, the relief valve is a cheap, accessible part to check before the oil pump and bearings. A plunger or ball that does not seat fully is often caused by debris and dirt in the oil. The valve body is cast aluminium, and its mating face is sealed with a gasket. The set pressure is specified for the engine, and a valve with a different setting upsets bearing lubrication. The aftermarket valve has the same mounting dimensions and set pressure as the original and fits with the same bolts and gasket. The Perkins catalogue lists several numbers for this part, such as 4138A054 and 4138A056; when choosing, compare the engine serial number and the marking on the old valve. Clean oil and a new filter after the change matter so the new valve does not stick. The valve is supplied new.

Fitting
