Engine oil level sensor 320/C9958 is an aftermarket part for the machines with the JCB Dieselmax 444 engine.

The oil level sensor measures the engine oil level in the sump and gives a warning in the cab if it falls below the minimum. In some systems the signal is only evaluated with the engine stopped, once the oil has fully drained back to the sump. The sensor warns the operator of a low level even if the dipstick check has been missed, an important protection for the bearings and turbocharger against running without oil. A faulty sensor either gives false warnings or fails to show a real oil shortage. The oil level is still checked with the dipstick at the start of every shift; the sensor does not replace this check but complements it. Keep the sensor wire away from hot parts.

Fitting

Before replacing the sensor, clean around it and if necessary drain the oil below the sensor hole. Fit the new sensor with a new O-ring or gasket, tighten it to the specified torque and connect the plug. After assembly, top up the oil, run the engine, check for leaks and test that the warning works properly.
